1995 - Founded at Richland
Elementary school in San Marcos
1996 - Redirected to emphasize
visual and performing arts
1998 - Endorsed by the San
Marcos Unified School District
for District Expansion. All San
Marcos schools currently
participating in Kid’s College
have been honored as California
Distinguished Schools, with the
program having been highlighted
in their applications.
1999 - Strategic Alliance with
the California Center for the
Arts. First intersession camps
and GATE programs. Escondido
Union Elementary District
participates.
2000 - Title I in-school program
initiated
2002 - Oceanside Unified School
District and Vista Unified
School District participate.
Kid’s College approved as
Not-For-Profit (501(c)3)
corporation.
2004 - Expanded to fourteen
schools
2005 – Partnered with California
State University, San Marcos to
provide programs for gifted and
high achieving elementary and
middle school students in North
San Diego County.
Expanded to Lake Elsinore
